Teaching pre-primary in Kozhikode
Kozhikode has strong links with Gulf schools, and many local teachers move to KG roles in the UAE, Qatar and Oman.
NEP 2020 brought ages 3 to 8 into a single foundational stage, and the National Curriculum Framework for the Foundational Stage (NCF-FS, 2022) asks for play-based, activity-based learning in the child's home language where possible. Private nursery schools, play schools, Montessori houses and the pre-primary sections of CBSE, ICSE and state-board schools all hire trained pre-primary teachers.
