Can I do pre-primary teacher training after graduation?
Yes. Graduates in any subject can join APTTI's PG Diploma in Pre-Primary Teacher Training (240 hours, 12 months, ₹30,000 + GST or US$475) or the Integrated PG Diploma (480 hours, 18 months, ₹35,000 + GST or US$549). Graduates can also take the Certificate or Diploma if they want a shorter course.
What this means in practice
A graduate plus a PG Diploma is a strong profile for CBSE, ICSE and international schools, which often prefer graduates for lead KG roles, especially in the Gulf.
PG Diploma or Integrated PG Diploma?
- PG Diploma: 240 hours over 12 months; the standard choice for graduates
- Integrated PG Diploma: 480 hours over 18 months; the most in-depth option, for those aiming at senior or coordinator roles
Combining with B.Ed
If you plan a B.Ed later, the PG Diploma gives you early-years expertise that a general B.Ed may not cover in depth.
Using your degree subject
Your degree subject is not required to match, but it can help. Graduates in English can bring strong storytelling and phonics skills; science graduates can lead nature and discovery activities; commerce graduates often help with pre-school administration; psychology graduates bring an understanding of child development. Mention this strength in your CV and interviews, and choose assignment topics that show it. Schools appreciate teachers who bring a specialism to the early-years team.
